Parte 1: Estructura, consejos y temas habituales

1) Familia y hogar

Preguntas de ejemplo (en inglés): Do you live with your family? Where do you come from? What is your hometown like?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): I live with my parents in a small city near the coast. My hometown is peaceful, with a friendly atmosphere and a couple of parks where I like to go for a walk after work. My family values weekends together, so we usually cook at home or go out for coffee in the afternoon.

Notas en español: Present simple to describe routines and permanent situations; use present continuous to describe actions happening now; show appreciation of local features; avoid overly long responses. Palabras clave: family, hometown, city, parks, coast, routine, weekends.

2) Estudio y trabajo

Preguntas de ejemplo (en inglés): What do you do for work or study? Why did you choose your course or job?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): I’m currently a student studying engineering. I chose this field because I enjoy solving practical problems and I like the idea of designing things that improve people’s lives. In my free time, I attend lectures online and work on small projects to apply what I learn.

Notas en español: Use simple present for routines, and present perfect to describe experiences. Include a reason and a short example. Evita respuestas vagas como “It’s interesting.”

3) Tiempo libre y pasatiempos

Preguntas de ejemplo (en inglés): What do you do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): In my free time I enjoy playing basketball and reading science fiction. I usually play once or twice a week with friends, and I read a new book on weekend mornings. I find these activities relaxing and they help me stay focused during the week.

Notas en español: Mix of present simple and adverbs of frequency (usually, sometimes). Use specific hobbies to showcase vocabulary; avoid listing too many activities; practice linking phrases like “in my free time” to begin smoothly.

4) Vida diaria en la ciudad

Preguntas de ejemplo (en inglés): What’s your city like? Is it a good place for students?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): My city is lively but not too crowded, with a good public transport network. There are affordable cafes, quiet libraries, and parks where I can study. It’s a great place for students because everything I need is nearby and the costs are reasonable.

Parte 2: El turnos largo (Long Turn) y cómo planificar

Tarjeta 1: Describe a memorable journey you have taken

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): One of the most memorable journeys I took was a weekend trip to the mountains last autumn. I went with two friends, and we left early on Saturday morning. The air was crisp, and the landscape was painted with golden leaves. We hiked a trail that led to a viewpoints where we could see the valley below. During the trip, we shared stories, cooked simple meals on a small stove, and talked about our plans for the future. What made it memorable was not only the scenery but also the sense of achievement after completing a challenging hike. I learned to appreciate small moments, like a hot cup of tea after a long walk, and I realized how valuable it is to disconnect from daily routines and enjoy nature.

Notas en español: Use a clear sequence: introduction, main events, personal feelings, and conclusion. Include sensory details (sound, sight, smell) to enrich the narration. Keep a moderate pace and use past tenses consistently.

Tarjeta 2: A book you enjoyed recently

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): Recently, I read a novel called The Midnight Library. It tells the story of a woman who explores alternate versions of her life. I liked how the author used a simple structure to explain complex ideas about choices and regrets. I connected with the character’s curiosity and the way the book blends fantasy with real emotions. The main takeaway for me was realizing that the small decisions we make every day can have surprising consequences, and that it’s important to appreciate the life we have. If I had more time, I would reread certain chapters to notice the subtle clues the author planted along the way.

Notas en español: Highlight personal reflection and a takeaway. Use a mix of past and present tenses to discuss the narrative and its impact on you. Include a brief personal evaluation and preference.

1) Medio ambiente y sostenibilidad

Pregunta de ejemplo (en inglés): What should individuals do to protect the environment?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): Individuals can protect the environment by reducing waste, choosing sustainable transport, and supporting policies that promote renewable energy. Small actions, like separating recyclables and using reusable bags, add up over time. Education and awareness are crucial because people are more likely to adopt green habits when they understand the impact of their choices. On a personal level, I try to bike to work twice a week and limit meat consumption to reduce my carbon footprint.

Notas en español: Present simple for general recommendations; conditionals can express hypothetical scenarios. Emphasize causality with phrases like “because,” “as a result,” and “therefore.”

2) Tecnología y vida moderna

Pregunta de ejemplo (en inglés): Do you think technology has made life easier or more complicated?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): Technology has made life easier in many ways, such as enabling instant communication and access to information. On the other hand, it can complicate daily routines when notifications interrupt focus or when people become overly dependent on devices. A balanced approach is to set boundaries, use technology intentionally, and allocate time for offline activities. In my experience, using apps for time management and language learning has been transformative, as long as I maintain discipline about usage.

Notas en español: Use contrastive structures, phrasal verbs related to technology, and connectives like “however,” “on the other hand,” and “as long as.”

Pregunta de ejemplo (en inglés): Should schools focus more on practical skills or theoretical knowledge?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): Schools should strive for a balance between practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Practical skills prepare students for real-world tasks, teamwork, and problem solving, while theoretical learning builds a deep understanding of concepts and fosters critical thinking. A well-rounded curriculum that combines project-based learning, real-life simulations, and rigorous theory can prepare students for diverse futures. I personally value courses that integrate practical applications with theoretical foundations because they keep learners motivated and engaged.

Notas en español: Argue a balanced view, provide examples, and use conditional structures to discuss potential outcomes. Vocabulario: skills, practical, theoretical, critical thinking, curriculum.

4) Cultura y sociedad

Pregunta de ejemplo (en inglés): How does culture influence the way people communicate?

Respuesta modelo (en inglés): Culture influences communication through norms, politeness strategies, and the level of directness expected in conversations. For example, some cultures value indirect language and de-emphasize personal opinions in public settings, while others encourage open debate and explicit expressions of agreement or disagreement. Being aware of these differences helps prevent misunderstandings and fosters respectful dialogue. In my own experience, learning about other cultures has made me more adaptable and improved my ability to listen before speaking.

Notas en español: Explain cultural variations with examples; use modals for advice and opinions (should, might, could). Practice neutral tone and avoid generalizations.

  • Vocabulario de tiempo y frecuencia: always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never, every day, a few times a week.
  • Conectores: firstly, in addition, moreover, however, on the other hand, as a result, consequently.
  • Frases de opinión: I believe that, I think, In my view, It seems to me that, From my perspective.
  • Expresiones de desarrollo: To expand on that, What’s more, Another important point is, This leads to...

A continuación, algunas estrategias prácticas:
